Places to visit in Jersey

St Helier, Jersey
St Helier, Jersey

St Helier is located on the south coast of the island against the backdrop of the English Channel and Elizabeth Castle.

The town holds an eclectic mix of traditional and modern facilities, including quaint cobblestone streets and bustling city squares, you'll also find interesting attractions such as the opera house, museums, and arts centre.

There are also antique harbours that are lined with pubs and cafés. King Street is the main shopping area that holds a mix of modern stores housed in buildings boasting classical architecture, what's more, due to its position you'll get VAT free Shopping!
Plemont Bay, Jersey
Plemont Bay, Jersey

Plemont is a Beautiful quiet Bay situated to the north of Jersey, where on a clear day you can see views of Guernsey, Herm & Sark.

The gorgeous beach is spotlessly clean and sometimes you can spot puffins in their natural habitat.

The journey down to the beach is steep, so you'll be met by a well-protected bay, due to the cliffs, so it’s sheltered from the wind (perfect for a picnic) and there are some great caves to explore too.

Due to its location, it is not advised that you go here if you have mobility issues.
La Rocque Harbour, Jersey
La Rocque Harbour, Jersey

Situated on the south-eastern tip of Jersey, La Rocque Harbour is a small fishing harbour, with a breakwater that hides a beautiful white shallow slopping beach behind.

Take a walk out to the Seymour Tower an 18th century fort where the 'moonscape' is exposed when the tide is low.

This changes the landscape to double the area of sand creating reefs, rock pools and gullies, this happens twice a day, but time your walk according to the day tides, as the rising can cause issues getting back (Use the Ports of Jersey website for tide information and we recommend only going across if the low tide below 3 metres).

Things to do in Jersey

Le Petit Train, Jersey
Le Petit Train, Jersey

A different way to see part of Jersey is to take a ride on the traditional little train that follows the beach promenade between Liberation Square in St Helier, St Aubin, Jersey's original historic harbour and West Park.

The little train journey runs around 3 miles and the trip lasts around 35 mins (single) with a full historical commentary of the island as you travel taking in the amazing views.

The Le Petit Train costs £9 for an adult return or £6 for a single journey and is open March to October.
Jersey War Tunnels and Hospital
Jersey War Tunnels and German underground hospital

One of the most popular tourist attractions on the island is the Jersey War Tunnels and the German underground hospital.

Here you can learn a lot about one of the most difficult periods in Jersey history, the story of the German Occupation of the island. The expansive tunnels have areas dedicated to different parts of history from the evacuation, the rationing of food, the hospital and so so much more.

They are informative, thought-provoking, well-lit and a reminder of WW2 and on the Channel Islands. Each entrance ticket comes with a copy of an identity card belonging to a Jersey resident, providing information which relates to one of the stories later on in the tour.
Elizabeth Castle, St Helier
Elizabeth Castle, St Helier

After a short ride on the Amphibious bus or a walk across the causeway, you'll reach the castle, You then join a tour which offers plenty to see, including a great mixture of old and new constructions throughout the island's history, including the German additions during the occupation of the Islands in the second world war.

Not only a great place of history but you will be entertained as well, if you are able to time your trip to coinside with the Midday Paradem, you will get to experience an interactive demo of musket firing and cannon firing.

The actors go above and beyond and have a vast knowledge of their subject to make the whole experience great fun
Mont Orgueil Castle
Mont Orgueil Castle

This medieval castle with links to the Crown overlooks the harbour of Gorey, and has some of the best views in Jersey. Here you can discover encircling walls, defensive gateways, hidden passages, an accessible rooftop and other battlements.

Dare to climb the winding staircase with over 200 steps to the top where on a clear day you can enjoy views across the Channel and even catch a glimpse of France.
